handlebars shims

any experience??
i want to buy a new stem with the intention of upgrading bars in a few months, shims are available.

You want to buy an over-size stem and shim it to fit standard bars, is that right?

I've never heard of such things. I'd be inclined to just wait until you have the right size of bar, or just not bother and stick with standard ones. Unless you're planning on throwing the bike off a cliff I think that oversize bars are just another fashion statement designed to peel money from you.
