I'm starting to suffer a bit with this (self diagnosed). Apart fromRICE and 4-6 weeks rest (not a chance); does anyone have any experience of getting on top of it?

better 4-6 rest now than try to use it and need 8-12 weeks later

Just over two weeks of enforced rest; a few ice sessions, plenty of stretching; it driving me mad and I'm sure it actually feels worse!

When I did it; it only hurt when I pulled my leg up from the knee. Now, although the pain has pretty much gone there are niggles hetting in / out of the car but more worryingly I seem to be able to "feel" the damage all the time, not sure if thats real or if I am just concious of the fact I have an injiry; either way, it seems to be going very slow!!

Off to the physio for a sports massage me thinks.

I've got it in my knee(s) at the moment.

I hurt my knees a while ago doing stupid mileages (24hr+ rides) on a single speed MTB. I recovered and for a month or two everything seemed to be fine. Then I was tripped up and fractured my ankle. Since then I haven't been able to walk properly and as a result I keep getting tendonitis in the knee (and hips). Something to do with the fact i'm twisting my knee as I walk and the ankle/foot isn't cushioning the impacts involved in walking correctly.

I've found stretching and exercises that strengthen the supporting muscles to be highly beneficial. Sadly i've no idea just what these exercises would be in your case. - I bet the physio would know though.

A Physio will sort it...... I used a Sports Physio near me, about 15 years ago for a hamstring injury.... went out running, far too far for a cyclist to do straight off..... cue damage (fitness does not help)...... anyway, he sorted it within 10 visits. Long term, the only pain I get is in the anchor point to the side of my knee if I over pushed the miles - that's gone now..... riding fixed has done wonders............

I've also been back recently to him (15 years later) for 6 months for my shoulder injury in an RTA, about 18 months ago - spent a fortune, but it kept me cycling.......

If you can get NHS treatment, try and get it.....my GP said I had no chance getting sorted fast, and if I wanted fixing, then go private.
