I tried it in a restaurant years ago and didn't enjoy it.
My daughter and family have now moved in and they are veggies.
This morning she did me a fry up with haloumi......to go with egg, vegan sausage, tomato etc.
I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it all, including the haloumi.
Either haloumi has improved or my taste buds have altered.
God forbid I am changing into a veggie

Grilled haloumi is delicious - done on a griddle plate so you get the burnt stripes on it. I remember a lovely Turkish breakfast (in Chester, rather than Turkey) consisting of this with the sujuk sausages, vine leaves, olives etc and it was a real treat which I've recreated at home a few times

He said his family are veggie not vegans, so yes.

Halloumi is ok in small amounts, I find it a bit squeaky and salty

I don't like cheese (Gromit!) but really like Haloumi as it doesn't taste like cheese and is squeaky and salty 😀
And Dave I'm fairly sure the definition of a 'veggie' is not = 'eats cheese' 🤣

Google tells me that veggies eat cheese and eggs while vegans don't.

Halloumi is the food of the gods. It's well worth paying extra and getting " proper " halloumi, made exclusively with sheep and goat milk. A lot of " halloumi " now has cows milk added in various proportion. I have found the good stuff tends to be squeakier.

Q: What does Cypriot cheese say when it looks at itself in the mirror?

A: " Hello Me "

Sorry...

I BBQd some this summer, wrapped in tin foil with liberal dash of oil. Lovely.

Mashed avocado with salt & pepper and Tabasco sauce to taste…
Add..
Fried halloumi on top
Add..
Poached egg on top of halloumi
Add a good drizzle of chilli jam.
