Does it just need a lock ring to keep it on?

You don't need a lock ring. I only put one on after 5 years of fixed as the new wheels came with one. If you is doin skidz then get one. :tongue:

Back pedaling has the potential to loosen lockrings. I'd have one just to be safe, for less than £5 for a bit of extra safety you can't really complain.
