Any recommendations the reason I would prefer halfords is I pass it quite a lot during the day. Only planning to spend 30 ish quid as I am saving for a new bike
Just thinking of the odd nip down the shop after dark. If I wanted to go out of the village I would use my head torch I use for fishing possibly

Don't even think about just fitting one of those cheap light sets. With some of them you're asking to knocked off.

Fit a Smart 1/2 watt LED rear light (Or another BRIGHT rear light)
http://www.google.co.uk/products?so...mart 1/2 watt&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wf

AND

Fit a cheap backup rear light (£2/£3 from the local supermarket) so that you have two. If the rear light goes off for any reason, say a flat battery or water ingress, you wont notice until it's too late.

For the front light, i'm afriad there's no dedicated cycle lights in your £30 range that are bright enough to cycle with without the aid of street lights. Your best bet is to either buy a 'torch' and bike mount or to get something with a bright flash that is highly noticable to drivers.

Cheers for the advice there not trying to be cheap skate but as I say dont want to hammer the old savings too much saying that they wont do me much good if I have been squished
I do have a 4 led tesco pencil type light which seems very bright ( blinding tbh ) and a couple of petzl fishing lights with head straps maybe I should try and use them but I was hoping to keep things tidy

To be fair, some of their bikehut lights are fine TO BE SEEN BY.... bought some today, in fact, a front one to replace one I left somewhere, rear to replace a broken one. The fittings are fiddly, but the quality is fine...
However, for night-riding, or TO SEE BY, I have these muthas
