In about 1 year 3 months...

I blame the icey conditions, was cycling and was more concerned about the temperature because I forgot my beanie, my mind wandered then BAM! I could feel when I turned that it was going wrong, the bike felt weird and it was like slow motion, next thing I knew 'Pancake'.

Not pleasant :B)

Not nice!

How are you, and how's the bike?

I nearly took a tumble myself yesterday, on some post flood detritus lying on my line half way through a turn. I noticed it just in time and had no more than a 'tank slapper' when the the front wheel slipped a little.

What bothers me most is how do I avoid getting run over once I'm on the floor.

once you have hit the deck, it really is in the lap of the gods.
prevention is better than cure.... don't ride in freezing temperatures unless you really have to

I commute every day 7 miles each way, we do have a car but i prefer the bike.
I set off earlier and try to keep to the main roads which i know will have been gritted.I ride slower and corner a lot slower.
Its worked up to now but to be honest i consider myself lucky.

I limped for the rest of the day and my forearm is scraped so not too bad thanks. Luckily it was on a cycle path area so didn't have to worry about cars or public humiliation, only two dog walkers were nearby. The bike is pretty much unscathed, although for some bizarre reason the front mudguard was twisted (must have hit my knee or something) and my front light flew off

Heal up fast!

Thanks, it was a slow roast heal. I went out after 4 days (knee hurt bad if i put pressure on it) and after about 10 miles my knee decided it wanted to go home. I've seen people fall while cycling on the tv and always used to think, "Big baby! Get your ass up!" never again will I think that!
