The best description I have read is "the sort of machine you can leave parked up all day in town and not worry about too much. looks like it's built out of scaffolding poles and rust. "

My hack is my £3.09 and a half P bike.
I could leave it left up anywhere and not worry. From a distance it looks alright, close up it doesnt look too bad, but it is abit crappy.
Its nice though.

Your 'Hack' is the bike you use the most. Probably because it's the bike you don't mind getting wet in the rain and is unattractive to thieves. You bought it to go to work on.

It starts off like this, but after a few months, it gets more attention and a lot spent on it. Eventually, you ride it because it's so comfortable and you know the gears and handling.

Then, you have a brainstorm and ride a 200 km Audax on it.

Hrmm is this a common problem? I seem to be getting hackbikeitis myself. You ride it everyday and the bike you've spent 3 times as much on now feels wierd and uncomfortable in comparison, and you start modding the best bike to be more like the hack. This sort of thign makes you wonder about the wisdom of spending too much money on bikes.
