I only skimmed it but according to the CTC newsletter the Monday cycling column is to no more. How daft is that ? Apologies if this is old news

Matt Seaton get's dropped? xx(

Er, it was the Two Wheels column on Thursdays and Matt Seaton left a long time ago. The column had been written by Claire Armistead until a few weeks ago.

I've mailed the Grauniad to ask for it to be reinstated.

Matt wrote a good column in the Guardian and I enjoyed it. Claire's was nowhere near as well researched or interesting.

Some of it was good, though she was clearly not as knowledgeable as Matt Seaton.

Was wondering what had happened to the column as it has been missing for two weeks. Will now send the statutory letter of complaint to the Editor.

I'd go as far as to say that her column was crap. But it's still worth fighting to keep it.

I'd dispute whether it's worth fighting for a crap column. Fighting for it to be reinstated and written by someone better, yes (hey! I'll do it!), but if it's crap, it's no good to anyone...

Well, the crap bit is just my opinion of her (vehemently pro-helmet, lightweight London commuter....) but I'd rather have a cycling column in a national paper than not, whatever my opinion of the writer. I suspect that there may still be many people who her column would have appealed to, beyond the likes of us.

...and yes, I'd do it too. Do you fancy splitting the gig? Not that we'd get it, being outside the M25...

They actually have had a number of different columnists since Matt stood down. I think it was a good thing that it was pitched at leisure/commuter cyclists, as hard core cyclists already have plenty of publications they can read.

When Matt left they used a number of writers before they settled on Claire.
