Been looking at this bike for weeks now and it's doing my head in!

I am very indecisive. Very, very, very.

It's for commuting and also going out at weekends with my young children on their bikes. So a road bike wouldn't be practical.

They are normally £500, but I found a shop soiled one at £375. Has a small rub on the down tube apparently. It's online so haven't seen it.

This evening, based on the random comments made by CCers, I will either pull the trigger or walk away forever.

Any thoughts on this bike?

@ChrisV

the main question here is can you try before you buy? i know your buying from the internet but are there any local stockist you can try one at.

if it suits your needs and budget, then its a bargain, if it doesn't and you want to change it pronto, it wont be.

it looks fairly workman like, low end shimano stuff, decent tyres. not sure about the wheels but it probably wont let you down before you've had your £375's worth out of it.

and looking at the image, it has a colour coded bell. winner!

Can't try first, never seen GT in shops about here.

I'd bought an Escape 3 in wrong size and returned it, was just going to get the right size but then spotted this bad boy. I prefer disc brakes so looks a good buy.

Don't know why I'm not pulling the trigger though. Every night I look it up at some stage, look at others too, but keep coming back to this. The £125 saving is enticing.

If I were you I'd buy it.

The only bike I had that I didn't like was a good spec at a good price. There was no real reason why I didn't like it but it just didn't feel great. So I sold it. As I'd got it for a good price I didn't lose out.

That GT looks suitable for what you want, and it's at enough of a discount to sell on if you really don't like it.

The only advice I'd give is to get photos of the scuff before parting with your lolly.

Good advice. I had thought about the resale being better because of the reduction.

I'm 90% there - just emailed asking for pictures of the rub so there are no surprises!
