My personal preference would have been Ronnie O'Sullivan for his unbelievable genius with a cue, but he wasn't even nominated. However, it is great to see how the profile of cycling has risen so much that a rider winning the award is no surprise. A decade ago the chance of getting one nominated were next to nothing.
And what the hell was Harry kane doing there? For all his ability he's won nothing.

The short list was terrible. Why only 6 names. And not announced until the night.
Clearly done to stop the likes of last years second place winner an unheard of motor cyclist marshalling support from a dedicated fan base.
But why no Anthony Joshua or Ronnie O Sullivan.
There are others who should have been on the short list. No Froome or Yates, no Adam Peaty. Loads of people who should have been on the list were missed off.
