I was meant to be riding my first imperial ton today, the sun is shining (for now) and I have got a nosebleed that is refusing to stop. Not a gusher but an annoying steady trickle xx(. Not had one for ages. Grrrrr :cursing:

I am going to ride to meet companion and see. It seemed to have stopped, now started again for no reason, other than a mouthful of porridge! My nose runs a lot on the bike, sn*t is one thing, blood another...won't be able to blow it!

Temperature change? Blood vessels expand and contract due to heat & cold?
I used to get nosebleeds a lot. Not recommended but I used to lie on my back and breath through my nose to get them to stop.

Yep, it started in the shower, which was quite hot

I get them often enough to be an annoyance, one landed me in an ambulance and A&E as wouldn't stop and I couldn't breathe! Had to be cauterised. Always from the same side. Often start during or after long flights, dry air, cabin pressure maybe? I may use my private HC to see a specialist, look for a more permanent fix.

Hi vickster,
That is very annoying. You have my sympathies.
Yeah, use your private HC. You've got nothing to lose and its what you pay them for.
Hope you get a solution.

Hope it stops and you get out Vickster. I can sympathise with the runny nose when cycling. It is almost embarrassing how much snot I seem to produce......not very ladylike but can't do much about it. It seems to be one of these things you are either bothered with or not.

My nose is already starting to run a little and it isn't even very cool here yet. When I was a kid I had trouble with my nose bleeding. My Doctor had me use this stuff called A+D ointment, just put a little on a cotton swab and spread it around the inside of my nose. Sounds gross I know but I still do it once in a while during the winter if the heat in the house has dried out my nose. I also use a vaporizer when I sleep, during the coldest two or three months. Not sure if you have A + D ointment in the UK but I also use antibiotic ointment, which I have not had a Dr.'s recommendation to use but still do. I also use a nasal moisturizing spray mist during the cold months too.

Vickster - Good luck on the imperial tonne. Mine started as a metric tonne but when I finished that I just kept pushing to see just how far I could go.

I rushed home from work in the week to head out for a quick spin locally, got all kitted up, went to kiss my son and he flung his head back and caught me square on the nose. Blood everywhere. As I'm trying to stop the flow, I can see Mrs D already cleaning the blood off the floor (case of priorities I guess). Still a bit sore
