Grrrr, Sigma comp broken after <5 months

Today the screen went blank on my Sigma 1606L. I took the battery cover off to investigate and discovered that the little plastic thingies that hold it shut were buggered which had caused a loss of contact.

I only bought the damned thing in February and I've never even opened the back as far as I can remember. Anyone experienced something similar?

I've emailed Sigma to see what they have to say, but I must say I'm pretty underwhelmed. Most annoying is that it's lost my time and distance data.:biggrin:

Bad Luck:sad:. I've got 2 of those and no problems in one and a half years. But one of the reasons for logging my details on cyclogs is that if they break or I loose it (very possible in the case of me), I will still have the information.

Good idea, I should have recorded my data somewhere else.

I have taped the comp back together and it still works so I can at least use it until Sigma get back to me. Still, it's vexing for something to fail apparently so spontaneously.

You're quite right mickle. Even so, when I explained the problem Sigma offered a free replacement and I now have a brand new 1606L. I must say I'm impressed with their customer service - they replied very quickly and didn't object to me dealing with them directly.
