Hi
I am looking for others opinion on new bike builds with mixed group sets. myself I think this is wrong as this looks like the bike is mis-mached and made from surplus bits and pieces. So i get the feeling bike manufactures are penny pinching the buyer with low quality bits to meet profit margins. They should build bikes with the same groupset what's your thoughts?.

My leisure bikes are full groupsets. My commuter is a Ultegra/105 mix.

Of course the manufacturers are penny pinching. But that's what the consumer want's. Cheaper products meeting a certain price bracket.

Bikes are built to a budget and are heavily subsided compared to the cost of their components, trust me, try self building a bike from scratch, it just doesn't make economic sense. If you feel this was about mixed groupsets you must be livid at the stock wheels manufacturers use to bring their bikes in on budget!

Also, some manufacturers have their own designs for things like BB's, (Cannondale's BB30 for example). When I bought my CAAD10 it was marketed as full Dura-Ace, however, as Shimano did not make a BB30 compatible chainset at that time, (do they now? IDK), the bike was supplied with an FSA carbon chainset.

It's not an issue that I lose any sleep over TBH, ride safe

Same with my S6, it has full Ultegra, but with the BB30 / FSA Cranks.

Shimano dont make a bb30 compatable set.

That said i prefer the FSA look over the shimano, especially the Tiagra versions

I agree 100%.....why make compromises...
You should expect the full group set.
You should expect fantastic hubs with ceramic bearings on your stiff and light wheels.
You should expect strong, light and complient carbon bars and stem.
You should expect a high quality frame with internal cabling.
....... You should also expect to pay 10k
