I was in the Lakes recently, and went to Grizedale for the first time, as I usually go Whinlatter when I'm up that way. Have to say I was pleasantly surprised, we got there for about half 8, and saw nobody for the first hour, we decided to do 3 laps, then explored some of the smaller single tracks away from the north face trail. Finished each lap in around 55 minutes, so it's a decent length, with some good technical sections. I'd recomend it if you find yourself in the area, though Whinlatter is superior in comparison.

Yes I like the north face trail too, but prefer the 'natural' bridleways around grisedale and blawith common etc. Not heard much about Whinlatter though - would you care to enlighten us? I've never ridden there and oddly enough have mtb'd all over the lakes.

Theres a lot of single track at Whinlatter, i think it's over 15km of pure trails. The Red Route covers this and is a total of 19km, there are also Black sections of single track, with good drops, jumps and northshore sections. It's another level and would highey recommend it. It's the largest purpose based mtb trail in the UK i think. Check out some videos on youtube, there are loads of head cams showing the best descent's, it'll make you want to leave tomorrow mourning!
