I think I heard of that when I lived there but it was some crazy start time to get to Weston for the transport to the start so I never did it. Its site was blank to me until I messed with browser settings but hidden in a PDF in a dark basement behind a "beware of the leopard" it makes it clear that it's under British Cycling's nasty rules, so riders like me wouldn't be welcome.
What it doesn't make clear (at least anywhere that I found) is that the same regulations also mean that riders of e-bikes and recumbents are also banned from the event (British Cycling Non-competitive Event Guidelines Section 1.5), which seems pretty mean for an event fundraising for a cancer charity... but it seems like it's on open roads, so I don't really see how they're going to prevent others riding most of the route!
