We popped into the City to get new cleats for Hubster, after he lost one in the stubble field that we hoofed across the other day.
They offer a price match with Wiggle, as it turns out, so we got the SPD MTB cleats for £9.02 rather than £17.99. The chap who worked there was nice and chatty, obviously a keen cyclist, and couldn't have been more helpful if he had tried. It was he who offered to check about the price match and, when his works computer decided not to talk to Wiggle, looked them up on his phone.

I'll certainly use them again. I know they are part of Halfords but the staff seem a bit keen and helpful in there.

Where's that one, then? Doesn't seem to be on OSM.org yet. Probably like all its siblings: half the stores are decent, half odds..

Relatedly, I keep meaning to visit the Dandy Horse. Maybe I'll go to Norwich a bit early this week...

I've been wandering into Cycle Republic after work and they are super helpful. Very tempted by the Carrera Zelos in there. Also I like the shirts they have with logos from classic sweets like Refreshers, Love Hearts and the Um Bongo one makes me chuckle. Useful to know about the price match though, thanks.

The wee lads in Cycle Republic get full marks for their keeness, but they tend to lack in depth knowledge, especially on anything that is more than about five years old. My preference is for two privately owned and run shops on the edge of the city centre, where whilst they may not be bang up to date with all the latest flashy gizmos, but between them what they don't know about the oddities of how most bikes operate ain't worth knowing - !:okay: I was in Cycle Republic recently and the lad was dribbling as he showed me a carbon fibre, asymetric frame full electronic gear change model; a snip at £6400. You wot - ? !:giggle:
