Yes I can, Yes I am, Yes I did...Repeat.
I'm about to fit a new crankset and for once in my life I've read the instructions. It mentions the word grease at least ten times, so which type of grease do I need, or doesn't it matter that much?

I'm guessing greasing it isn't the same as lubing it so I just want to buy the right type of grease.

Why do I have an image of Olivia Newton John in a fifties skirt in my head?

Grease is heavier (like vaseline).
I'd use something that doesn't dry out so quick like Lithium grease, but tbh, any grease will do the job.

There are many types of grease available, but for the purpose of fitting a Chainset and BB general purpose grease would do the job such as Castrol LM grease or if you want to spend a bit more get a general purpose bike grease such as Finishline Teflon grease.

Lots of copper grease on the bb threads, if it's a ht11 do the same and smear some normal general use grease onto the axle.

wot he ^ said.

but do be aware that copper grease is only for greasing (some) thread so they don't seize on - but not for bearings - you want normal grease for them. Normal grease will do instead of copper grease for anti seize if you've not got any - but a lifetime supply ia only a few quid so get the proper stuff for both needs
