Grease hub before putting cassette on?

Is it wise to grease the hub and splines before refitting the rear cassette?

I have certainly never done that. Others may disagree but I see no benefit.

if you think about it, with the amount of oil that will migrate in from the chain, there's no need.

Thanks guys.I havent in the past but watched someone wipe grease on theirs before reassembly.

To my mind all it will do is trap any dirt that finds its way in.
