Hi All,

Just wondering which out of this two bike you would personally choose? (just interesting)

1. Fuji Jari 1.1 (aluminum)
Shimano GRX RX810 Components, FSA, T47 Internal BB, Wheelset - Alex Boondocks 5, alloy tubeless rims, 32/32H

2. Canyon Grizl AL 6
Shimano GRX RX400 Components, Bottom Bracket Token Ninja Lite BB4124 PF86.5Thread-Fit Technology reduces chances of bearing misalignment. BB86 Road standard, compatible with 24 mm axles, Wheelset DT Swiss Gravel LN
Price difference just £500. Canyon cheaper. But the main concern is that the Canyon has a press fitted Bottom Bracket.

Cheers!

Is the Canyon Grizl the new Grail? My mate has a AL Grail and it's lovely.

I've the Fuji Jari and I can't really fault it but I can't really compare it to other gravel bikes not having had one before. It feels stable on various terrains and has been fast and reliable after about 700 miles. After one ride I converted the tubeless ready set up to actually tubeless.

I wouldn't bother buying a gravel bike, especially if you live in England. Few gravel roads and most bridleways are so muddy that 40mm gravel tyres simply don't provide enough traction.
Better off buying a hardtail MTB. I bought a gravel bike 2 years ago and seldom went off road as it wasn't up to the job

Two very similar bikes and you're unlikely to regret buying either. In your position I'd make efforts to try them both to see which you prefer (which I realise may not be possible). Also I'd do what you seem to have done and go through the component lists and see if there are any differences that jump out at you - like the PF BB in this case.

+1. This gravel stuff came out from america where they have - wait for it - gravel trails. I think there aren't as many in the UK as they are more like mud trails than gravel trails. To that extent, I'm with @Falsesummat - I would rather get an XC MTB. There are uses for a gravel bike: the wider tyres make the potholed roads more bearable, overall comfort is better and usually the bikes are compatible with racks and full-size fenders. But then again, so are many road bikes. I've had a couple of gravel bikes in the past but I was always left with the feeling of "hey, I really want to like this bike, but I can't".

Oh yeah, ps: if OP does want me to choose one bike, then the Canyon. Although i like the colour of the Fuji better, the Canyon is not bad at all and I also fancy getting a Canyon.

I'd go for alu over carbon for a gravel bike. I'm just thinking you're more likely to have offs and CF doesn't like that so much.

I've had my Ti gravel bike for a year now and love it.
It really doesn't do that much off-road but it has fatter tyres to smooth out the broken British tarmac. It's almost as fast as my CF summer bike but has full guards and copes with anything.

If you are just riding off road get a MTB but for mult purpose - a gravel bike would be my choice.

Since dislocating my thumbs I have been looking at flat bar gravel bikes. I was suprised at the price difference between drop bar bikes and flat bar bikes.
