Hey all. Does anyone record their rides as a GPX file which others can download? I have found a couple of sites which have some which I can put into my Cyclemeter App. I was trying to find a London - Canterbury ride for this weekend taking in some nice back roads through little villages etc and away from the main roads if possible. Thanks

I put quite a few of mine on Bikely in case anybody is interested in trying any of them out. There are many thousands of routes on there, but I couldn't find one for you.

However, I think I might have spotted one elsewhere. There is a charity ride in September which does London-Canterbury and judging from the comments of people who did the ride last year, it is the kind of route you are looking for. See London to Canterbury Charity Ride.

I've managed to create a GPX file of the route and have uploaded that to Bikely for you - here. It is the longer route that the charity ride takes. If you want to shorten it, just cut across from Shalmsford Street through St Augustine's along Chartham Downs.

You can download the gpx file using the Share menu option.

Have fun!

Hi all, I'm a newbie and just happened across your thread. Mapometer is a good site where you can plot and store your routes.

I've saved my long routes around Norfolk on there, and you can search the country for other routes people have saved too. GPX import/export feature is good.

But what are people using on their bike in the way of GPS/SatNav/Smartphone/GoogleMaps to make use of GPX files, or is that a whole new thread?

Sustrans route 1 is a pretty good route to Canterbury. I've ridden it and can recommend most of it.
