After several weeks of searching, confusion, disappointments and crap customer service, I finally got my first road bike!

Bought it off a local chap, and cost a lot more than I really wanted to spend, but hey, you only live once!

Its a Specialized Sectuer Elite from around 2010 with shimano 105 derailers, shifters and brakes. Its a lovely gunmetal grey, which matches one of Ibanez bass guitars pefectly! Also has Fulcrum 7 wheelset with Michelin Krylion Carbon tyres, an Ultegra 11-28 cassette and an upgraded seat post and saddle.

I've given it a good clean and oil, flipped the stem over, fitted a bottle cage plus fitted a garmin quarter mount. Hopefully I'll finish work early enough tomorrow and it won't be raining so I can go for a decent ride. Need to buy some better pedals, but I might wait until I feel confident enough to go clip less.
Also have a garmin cadence thingy to fit tomorrow.

A couple of crappy phone pics, its too dark and I can't be bothered to get the DSLR out!

Very happy to finally have one, can't wait to ride it properly!

Fine bike! I have the 2010 Secteur Sport which I like; yours is the higher specced version. Looks to be in very good condition too.

That is a beauty!

I would be interested in your clip less journey. i have similar pedals whilst i get used to my bike but i feel it will not be long before i make the modification.

Thanks!

Bar some minor scrapes on the chain stay and some cable rubs it seems in very good nick. There was a lot of gunk on the chainset which I've cleaned off, hopefully that will solve the small issue I had on the test ride of struggling to get from the middle ring to the big ring. Its had a new chain and cassette recently too. I'll probably put it into my LBS for a service just so I can start from scratch and know where I am.

It was listed originally for £450, then dropped to £420. I made an offer of £340 which I really didnt expect to get near, but it was well over my original budget of £200 and I thought it worth a shot.

He replied saying £350 would buy it.

As it happens he listed it on gumtree just before I messaged him, and he had several offers on there higher than mine, but he stuck to his word and gave me first dibs.
There are a few around selling for over £400 without the upgrades, so I think I got a decent deal.

Very nice bike! I also bought my first road bike in November, a Specialised Roubaix Expert SL4 (a 2013 model), but I'll keep quiet on how much it cost . These bikes are great for hill-climbing, and feel nice and fast, too.
