Be very careful if knees bad. Spin up hills, take it easy. Sportives aren't races

Liquid and food, drink before thirsty, eat before hungry. Take Jelly babies, flapjacks, soreen. You did a 100+ before didn't you, so whatever you did then must have worked ok as you survived

Have you now got a bike that fits you?

Just eat normal food when you are hungry, real food at a cafe or stop, ham, egg and chips or baked potato and beans, chicken sarnies etc, forget about gels and the like, carry some jelly babies and/or fig rolls to munch on the way round also. Keep hydrated and keep turning the pedals. Just take it easy and you will be fine.

as said above jelly beans is where it's at!
i did my longest on sunday just gone (64 miles) and about 20 or so odd miles from the end i was dead and only just managed to the end of the organised ride and sat down and drank and had jelly beans and a snack bar or two and was fine for the 7.5 mile ride home!
Cheers Ed

If you aren't fit and you've got dodgy knees, I'd give the hundred a miss. It's a helluva long way if you're struggling.

If you insist on doing it, then set your computer to the "average speed" screen, and don't let that go over, say, 14mph. Stop every 10 miles and actually get off your bike, stretch, eat, drink, stretch again, then head off for another 10. Just break it down into a series of short rides rather than one long one.

Approaching perfection from a distance.
Bit of a slog methinks. As above, take in nice and easy and add in lots of stops for food and drink.

Did a 100 last June two days after returning from a 4 week road trip by car across the US from East to West. After about 40 miles, it suddenly dawned on me that it hadn't been the best preparation for my first ever 100 miler! But got there eventually

Good luck :hello:
