Currently I've got some Easton EA50 hoops on my Cube Agree SL 2011 but I find they flex a bit more than I'd care for. This is especially noticeable in the wet with the rear wheel and particularly at last week's Tour o' the Borders where the weather was ridiculously foul.

I don't believe I can tighten the spokes any more than they are already so am considering a nwe wheelset that is much stiffer and responsive without costing me an arm and a leg. Something under £500 perhaps? No tubs, just your regular inner tube with clinchers. Fulcrum? Zipp?

Mavic ksyrium elite dont seem to flex with my 16 stone out of the saddle honking and swearing.

They do seem to have a little harsher ride than other wheels, but that seems to be the price if stiffness.

You can get better stiffness by increasing the number of spokes. Unfashionable I know - but with care in choice of components you won't be adding significantly to the weight.

+1

I plumped for hand built hoops when I got the green nod for my one-off build from swmbo. 32 spoke but still light and stiff - cant complain.
