Can anyone recommend a good LBS to solve my ongoing wheel issues. Preferably in the Newcastle area.

Try Steel Cycles in Gosforth, just by South Gosforth metro. They've been around for ever and are owned by a former pro-cyclist and frame builder.
Ask for Dave- he builds great wheels.
