Okay, looking for some help.

I have 3 kids 14 10 7 they are getting into cycling. I am based in Surrey/West Sussex.

I have done parts of the worth way trail but it has road sections. I a looking for a decent Cycle only path, that does not get snagged by road use? I was inspired by mention of a Cyclepath that runs alongside the A23 but it is not clear on the Sustrans site how much is Cycle only, and the links to purchase the map are broken

Obviously not everything is accurate being open (then again sustrans mapping has a few mistakes on itself and certainly wouldn't pay to buy their maps) but on the opencyclemap it's very clear what is what http://www.opencycle....1801&layers=B0

3.63 miles near Brighton appears to be off road cycle path running close and paralell to the A23, then bits that are up quiet roads on road and so on.

There are a lot of other trails/routes round there. Perhaps ask someone what route 82/89 are like (which are clearly labelled).

Here for rides.
opencyclemap, bikehike, and cyclestreets will all, when used wisely, show you what you want to know. As will the WSCC cycling journey planner based on cyclestreets.

there is indeed an off road cycle path alongside much of the A23 and a more unpleasant cycle path you could not hope to find, much nicer C road alternatives run parallel to it which are almost traffic free.

Allow me to recommend you something a little more family friendly.....

North (to Guildford via Cranleigh) and South (to the south downs at Steyning) of Horsham we have the downs link. Most, as in nearly all, of this is off road, flat a la Worth Way, bar one hill at Baynards on the northern bit which runs through some very decorative countryside even if you can't see much of it from the bottom of a disused railway cutting. The bit immediately around Christs Hospital is on road and it ain't a nice bit of road either so is perhaps tackled with great care or maybe even avoided with the little ones.

A map and guide are online.

any use?

Would that be the one that is normally ankle deep in horse muck..?
