News from Leicester City Council...

THOUSANDS of youngsters in Leicester will benefit from cycling training thanks to a £92,000 government grant.
The grant will fund 2,300 Bikeabillity training places for children in
Leicester, which will aim to bring their cycling skills up to the
National Cycle Training Standard. The announcement came as part of the
official launch of Bikeability 2009 earlier this week. Overall, the
Government is investing £140 million to get half a million children
involved by 2012.

I'm sure the local press will have more details shortly :smile:

they seem to be obsessed with building busy roads through cycle tracks (great central bike route) and building cycle unfriendly speed humps (the ones where motorists pull into you to avoid the main bit of the bump) so I wouldn't praise Leicester council too much

its good to see a council still investing in cycling, especially the safety side of things considering the on-going finacial hardship.
