Could any of you good London people recommend a good bike shop in East/North London? A friend living in the Hackney area wants to get some decent advice on building/buying a bike. He is a bit new to it all has a decent budget and wants good advice not hard sell.
Cheers people.

No good lbs's in North or East London then. Could be a business opportunity.

Must be lots of places selling fixies in 'ackney? @subaqua might know, he's out East

Not directly in East London, but if I were in London with a good budget wanting something built, Condor on Grays Inn Road would be my first port of call. Reckon there'll be a bus to thereabouts from 'ackney

What’s the point

Leytonstone
the LBS for me is Bikeworks Leytonstone, who are a charity . they have one in Bethnal green and I have had good advice from the leytonstone one so asume it would be same at Bethnal green.

Avoid the Bike Shack on Ruckholt road. Unless it has changed in last 12 months as it is staffed by surly arrogant staff, and they charge 50p to let you use the air pump !

Bike trax in wanstead isn't too bad but they tried the hard sell on me when I wanted a new rear wheel.

London Fields Cycles on Mare St is pretty good (and reasonably priced) but to be avoided on a Saturday

None that I know of in Walthamstow, certainly. You'd have my custom if you set up round here

(You might not want my custom, given that I'm price-sensitive and do pretty much all my own repairs, but ...)

There are a fair few around Spitalfields - including Swift who seemed decent when I was doing my Genesis research (but really hard to find not knowing the area). Got a big Cyclesurgery and an Evans too

He could hop on the Thameslink and go see @musa at Pearsons in Sutton
