well I seem to have misplaced the buds that came with my phone with the handy controls so I was thinking of picking up some bluetooth ones as the ability to skip crap is dead handy.

Thought I'd ask here so you could shout out ones that let the ambient through and kill wind noise nicely.

I hope I'm not being set up in a trap here but ...

I have these: Jabra BT620s

There are probably better models out there, but I got given these. As the are round the neck you can wear them with a helmet, have foam which reduces wind noise, and are open backed so still let external sound in.

Bear in mind they (and I think most bluetooth audio devices) have a few potential issues, which can vary as a result of a number of factors.

1. You need to set them up to sync with your device. Some devices make this a massive pain in the arse, and some can forget they are 'connected' and you have to do it all again.

2. Depending on the device, what other wireless features you have on the phone and what other wireless activity there is in the area, you can potentially get issues with the sound dropping out briefly and/or changing pitch or going fuzzy.

3. Data is compressed when streaming via bluetooth which means potentially slightly lower sound quality depending on devices (although Bluetooth SHOULD be enough bandwidth for uncompressed audio).

4. Streaming audio over bluetooth does hammer battery life a bit.

I use a bluetooth handsfree when I'm working sometimes as it means I can take calls without lunging around in a backpack for my phone. I'm also kinda tempted by the endomondo bluetooth hr type monitors so its a bit of a cycling proof of concept
