Bought a new Specialized Tricrosss (the basic version), and got it this morning from Dales, Glasgow.

Rode it down to Central station then jumped on the train. I live in Largs, so jumped off the train again at Paisley, then rode the bike down to Kilwinning. Back on the train and home! Thoroughly enjoyed my first run. Only one concern so far. Toe clips!!(or straps or whatever the correct name is for them). They have to go.... They are not long enough for my size 10 feet.
What I mean is, when pedalling (especially uphill) I don't feel that my foot is far enough forward on the pedals to be at its most comfortable and efficient point; I would prefer the ball of my foot slightly further forward but there is no adjustment.

Not a big problem and will be easily sorted with the removal of the toe clips, or new pedals.

Nice one mate, i bought my Defy from Dales, also came with toeclips, got rid and bought myself some Spesh mtb shoes and Shimano M520's, best thing i've done.

Enjoy! +1 for bhoyjim's picks.

Enjoy the bike it seems to be a good one. What the others have said about the clipless pedals and shoes, it will be the best addition you can add to any bike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty much everyone here will agree that these pedals are the ones to go for, and at £19 you won't be disapointed at all.

I have these on my tricross and they have been brilliant, just wish i had got the white ones they look pretty cool.

The shoes will have to be a personal decison according to ur feet/budget etc. I went for Specialized Sport BG shoes, really nice and comfy.

Anyways enjoy your new bike!

Thanks re advice on the pedals. I was out this afternoon and got a set of Shimano M324s. I went for them as I like the idea of having the "normal" side for when I just want to nip out for whatever reason without having to change shoes.

Have just fitted them, so now busy practising getting the cleats into the pedals! Expect another post on the clipless moment thread sometime soon.......

The days when you are just 'popping out for a pint' or a social make these worthwhile.
Love SPD's, hate carrying a spare pair of shoes and a bag once or twice a month. Mind you, another bike would solve my problems...

They do indeed. Are these a new product? I've never seen white SPDs before. I wonder how well the colour wears. I have white Speedplays on my road bike and they looked crap after about 5 minutes but the finish on the SPDs looks a little tougher.
