It was my Trek 6500 MTB that got me back into cycling about 8 years ago, and I used it for some proper MTB'ing around the 7 Stanes routes in the Scottish borders.
Since then I have accumulated a few other bikes and the MTB was gathering dust. I took the rubbish suspension forks off it and put a rigid but light carbon fork on it, and used it for light off road stuff.
Anyway, a recent thread has given me the notion to go MTB'ing again over the winter. A set of these forks is in the post, and I am looking forward to visiting some of the 7 Stanes again.
Thing is, this bike just looks too good (naff flask apart) to get it covered in dirt....... ^_^

Just go out on the roads behind someone with no mudguards - I did yesterday and got caked in the stuff.

I cleaned my road bike on Friday, only to trash it all over again on wet, muddy country roads today. Not sure why I bothered.
