I'm pretty sure I'm gluten sensitive, even if I'm not I feel so much better for cutting it out of my intake.

However, that leaves food to take riding a bit more complicated, it used to be just bung a couple of butties in my bag and off I went.

Space or weight in not really an issue since I'm back on my brommie with a huge front bag.

I have started taking rice with left overs, what do you fellow sufferers recommend?

hard boiled eggs? I guess you can easily carry cold baked potatoes as well with various fillings. I love eating jacket potatoes cold... salads could be an option especially if you add some nuts/meats/egg etc, as well as soups (homemade to avoid wheat flour as thickeners), and a friend of ours eats a lot of pasta shells made from rice which may add some variation. Rice cakes make a good dipping option for soups and you could make your own dumplings to replace bread. I make up some raw onion 'bread' which is made from sunflower seeds & linseeds ground up and contains no flour whatsoever which is excellent for sandwiches and really tasty (though you really need a dehydrator for them).

Snacks:blush: carry these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Trek-Crunch-Protein-Flapjack-Pack/dp/B0069RQX1I
(Holland & Barrett have them on the buy one get one for 1p which makes them 70p each).
the company specialise in gluten free & dairy free stuff... http://www.naturalbalancefoods.co.uk/ and have a gluten free eating our article http://www.naturalbalancefoods.co.uk/community/dietary-needs/gluten-free-guide-to-eating-out/ & http://www.naturalbalancefoods.co.uk/community/dietary-needs/tips-for-choosing-gluten-free-snacks/
(I'm not gluten free, just dairy free which is just as difficult IME) Also look out for Village bakery - they have a great range of gluten free stuff as well. we love their gluten free ginger cake.

Home made flapjack  just can't beat it. 500 calories in a bit the size of 1 1/2 snickers bars side by side
yep have some nice ones that I make, that and vegan black bean brownies (not gluten free just dairy free)... but I think OP may be after more of main meals - snacks are quite easy really! I also struggle with main meals, but can at least have bread - marg is another matter becuase it often contains dairy nowadays and as for sandwich fillings I seem to end up with Jam or peanut butter and that is about it now... Even bread I have to be careful with because a surprising amount of it contains milk or milk powder!

Yeah I'm gluten and dairy free.. It's a pain on cafe stops
nope it is more than a pain.
eating out at all is murder though I do find I am OK as a vegan at Wagamama's (spelling?) but my OH drive me to Bristol for a birthday meal at christmas simply because we know I can eat something there and I even got a choice!
cafe would be jacket potato with baked beans then?
also sounds like the raw breads (not really bread at all in the conventional sense and containing no flour whatsoever - made from ground up nuts & seeds) would also be an idea for you as well!

Yep! Exactly that. Burley tea rooms in the new forest keeps a gluten free loaf in the freezer so I get a double decker bacon sammich from them

Mrs Spartak is a Coeliac, and has been following a gluten fee diet for over 5 years.
Although she cycles very little, I'm often given Gluten Free snacks to try out ^_^

Eat Natural bars are my favourite, and Nakd bars are also very pleasant.

Bit expensive for a cafe stop but 'Blanc Brassiere' actually shows GF options on his set menu

you could also make up some risotto (any rice works) which would add flavour. plenty of gluten free stock around.

( a quick one we use is mushroom or pea risotto. no fixed quantities etc - just mix and match as desired - fry an onion (and mushrooms) til golden, add rice (usually 4 or 5 portions of basmati) and stir to coat, add stock (around 1L), cook until almost absorbed. Add frozen peas (if not using mushrooms), oregano and cook til peas cooked... serve.)

Stocks we use are ....... Kallo or Marigold Swiss Veg. Bouillon Reduced Salt version( this also makes a very nice cup-a-soup ! )
Butternut Squash Risotto is our current favourite

I'm coeliac also. Supermarkets are much better than they used to be. But its also easy enough to make your own flapjacks or muffins to take. Finding space in the saddle bag is the biggest problem.

Tesco do a gluten free cranberry and blue berry muffin which is a great post ride treat
