Glass in tyre tread

Hi,

Just repaired a p******e. I seem to be getting lots of practice so might get good at it one day

This time the culprit was a piece of glass. It's made a split in the tyre tread maybe 4 or 5 mm long.

Is this likely to make the tyre weak at that point and should I be thinking about replacing it? The tyres have done about 700 miles. (If it's important the bike is hybrid from Edinburgh bike and these are the original tyres).

I've been interested in the threads on tougher tyres but put off by the comments that they're hard to get on and off.

Thanks

Anne

If that's a split in the tyre which you can see daylight through, it's time for a new tyre.

It is possible to bolster the tyre with a piece of old innertube superglued on the inside.
You can thoroughly clean the split and superglue it.

I had the same. A split about 5mm long. As long as it doesn't go all the way through the tyre will be fine. Just watch that it doesn't start to grow
