I damaged my newish Giro helmet before Christmas in a nasty smash (frost) - see previous threads.
Giro kindly replaced my helmet after I sent them a cheque for £22 - not sure if this figure goes up if you have a very expensive helmet.
Very pleased - they have certainly earnt my loyalty for future helmet buys.
If you need the info search their website - on emailing the contact in the US they forwarded it to their Uk distributor whop got back to me within 24hrs.
