Does anyone have these tyres, original fit on my Defy 3 Composite, I noticed when I got back home after this mornings ride that they seem to be developing small splits along the circumference of the tyre just to the side of the central section, it seems the tyre has a central band that is in contact with the road when riding straight ahead and a different compound on the shoulders, the splits seem to be where the shoulder and central part meets if that makes sense, it's a bit scary when I was descending back down towards Wakefield from the roundabout just outside Clayton West and decided 36 mph was fast enough thank you, and backed off a bit, thank god it didn't blow! Anyone else had this on their Giant?

How many miles have you done on them? I had some similar ones and they also did this. They gripped well enough, but were completely worn out at only 1500 miles. I replaced mine with Continentals, that have been superb.

Can you post a photo?

I really didn't like the PR3's and also moved to Conti's early on. PR3's are shedding shards of rubber nicely on the turbo right now.

I will try to get a photo tomorrow, I think they've only done around 400 miles, and it's on the rear tyre, I have kept them pumped up between 100 to 110 psi,I think a pair of Continentals may be the way to go, I just think they are an accident waiting to happen now.

I've ordered a pair of Continental GP4000S 2's, been intending to get a photo all week, but it's been too dark when I've got home, can't wait to see if they ride better than the OEM tyres.
Going on the reviews they should be very good.

Just brought up 2000 miles on my defy on the original pr3 tyres. Absolutely no problems thus far with them.

And ( I know, I know I know I shouldn't say this but......) never had a puncture on them yet!

(Goes to garage to check saddle bag for spare tubes before tomorrow's ride!)...

My pr3's lasted 300 mile before they split but I had a puncture last weekend and I think it was down to the rims rolling over the rubber/plastic.

I've put my lithion 2's on for winter as some of the lads at the clurrrrrb swear by them

I have some Lithion2 tyres on my winter bike, and they do seem very good, but I've only been out on them once, but they have very good reviews, for the money you can't go wrong.
I have fitted the Continentals on the Giant, wow what a difference, the PR3's are very heavy, with a thick puncture proofing layer, but the conti's roll really well & even though they were inflated to 110 psi felt really comfortable, I'm really impressed with them, only downside was I had a low speed off, setting off from traffic lights onto Northgate in Wakefield city centre the bike slid out from under me, this is where the council put down some block paving at the junction, it looks nice but it's lethal in the wet, when I stood up my feet nearly went from under me too, so I can't blame the tyres, just badly specified road surface, the things actually seem to have a smooth polished face.
I just need to remember it's a no go area when wet.
