Daft question coming up...does the little dot on the rim mean the rim's worn out (front wheel's been on for maybe 5 years daily use) or is it good until the dot disappears? Thanks

Yes usually the case.

Or it's a continuous line around the rim. 👍

Yes , once the dot, or the line has disappeared then the rim is down to the limit.
