Bought a Giant Escape 3 in wrong size for £300 and have returned it.

A straight swap will be £30 for the courier.

They also have the better specced Specialised Sirrus 2015 at £375. I thought to myself, another £75 (plus £30 courier) for a better bike is worth it. However, the original Escape came with £30 worth of free goods which the clearance Sirrus does not, so in total would be £135 to exchange to this:

https://www.cyclestore.co.uk/specialized_sirrus_sport_2015_sports_hybrid_bike-ID_64533

Then I figured if I was losing the £30 of free goods with a clearance bike, I could go to a £400 bike and still work out £130 for the swap. Enter the GT Traffic 3 2016 which also comes with disc brakes:

I don't truly understand enough about specs to know the best option. I need to stick with that supplier as I am locked in by the £30 return courier and £30 free goods I've already had. So it's one of those 3 bikes basically.

So, stick with my original choice or trade up to one of the others? Decisions! (Albeit a stupid decision I manufactured for myself!)

Get the road bike you actually want

For me it would be Specialized, it has the best rear mech of the bunch and been 9 speed spares will be a little easier to find than 8 speed.

With the GT your paying for the disc brakes but if your going to be commuting to work it may work out more economical in the long run with less rim wear.

Just spend your £400 on a commuter road bike, e.g. Btwin triban...get the "C2W" one in August to go with...or sell the triban for not much less than you paid

Or how about this....https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/n...victoria-pendleton-now-listed-on-ebay.198216/
