Getting to the start!

A small group of us (3 or 4) are planning to do a coast to coast ride from Blackpool to Scarborough in March. I live near Leeds so there are some logistical challenges getting to Blackpool for the start. I have contacted the rail service (Northern) and they only allow 2 bike per train on a first come first served basis (no booking!!).

If we drive then there is a problem getting back to the west coast a couple of dayss later.

I know there are some companies who can help out further oop north on the traditional C2C but I would appreciate any advice or thoughts...

What about freighting your bike and you getting the train to the start?
There ay be a CC member close to the start that may be prepared to accept the delivery for you?

As long as you prep the bike well, pipe lagging and bubble wrap and LBS may have a cardboard bike box too.
