Getting rid of Magpies

My daughters have become increasingly interested in feeding the birds and so at the start of the year we supplemented our old bird table with a bird feeding station.

Within a couple of months we were seeing probably 10-12 different species daily and were particularly delighted to see occasional visits from green and lesser spotted woodpeckers.
Unfortunately we then had a family of Magpies start roosting in the large fir tree in the garden, and they have systematically scared off most of the birds other than the odd robin and blackbird.

Nothing we can do seems to shake them off, even not feeding for a few weeks in the hope that they’ll get the message and b*gger off, because as soon as we start feeding they’re straight back again.

Any thoughts as to how to do this?

Leave rat poison on the bird table until the magpies disappear. Hopefully there won't be too much collateral damage.

I thought bird feeders were bad for birds and other wildlife?

If not, trap them, apply lethal injection and bury with the foxes*.

Scare them off without harming the other birds.

I'm assuming that these are tongue in cheek. My starting point was that I like birds, just not Magpies. Actually I don't like crows either, or jackdaws. I'm not fussed with pigeons and doves either and I think that jays are a bit 'look-at-me'. Don't get me started on the flock of parakeets that sometimes descend upon us.

Actually, hold on a sec...........does anyone want to buy a bird feeding station?!!!
