Getting measured without getting lost...

I've got an appointment at Paul Hewitt's next Thursday to get measured properly, the plan is to assess and hopefully improve my position on my current mountain bike, but also to get an idea what kind of size/frame etc I will need when I get a roadbike (hopefully next year). Quite excited about this, I wonder how much he will find wrong with my current bike!!!

Anyway, if it is a nice day, I'd like to cycle there and back, but the only way from Preston to Leyland I know is the car route along the dual carriage way, has anybody by any chance got any suggestions of a more scenic route? It will have to be reasonably straight forward as I have a tendency to get lost as soon as I walk out my front door and I am one of those people that have to turn the map upside down if that's the direction I'm going in...

My usual local routes go in the opposite direction, so suggestions would be welcome, the A-Z appears to only give a choice of dual carriage way or complete twisty turny routes through residential areas which are bound to get me completely lost and make me miss my appointment!

Just thought someone on here might have some bright ideas....

Would be more accurate if the route started with postcode or address.

Hello PP. There seems to be a B road that branches off the A582 at an island near Higher Penwortham, this crosses the A582 further down then if you take a right turn that takes you into the centre of Leyland. Hope this helps. Good luck with the fitting:smile:.
P.S. Acording to the map book this is an almost straight route.

try google put in your route and on the left hand panel it will offer you the car route or walking route pick walking

beware walking routes that go down oneway roads - in wrong direction. Or walking routes that use pedestrian only paths.

Yes, unfortunately...but from everything I've read on here, it's worth it in the long run!

Oh, and thanks for the routes...I still seem to have to do one short nasty stretch of road, but it doesn't look too bad and is pretty much a straight line - should be able to manage that...

Hope you made it to the shop PP without getting lost - unless you knew, you'd be hard pushed to recognise it as a bike shop ;)

Ah, that is the only problem I have solved...had to go to Leyland by car last weekend and scouted it out, but yes, you are right...we had driven right past it the first time without even noticing - looks more like some sort of hardware shop!

Enjoy! I've now got a 'fits-like-a-glove' custom road bike which is simply a pleasure to ride in comparison to my previous ill-fitting machines.

It was previously a motorbike shop and was glass fronted from ceiling to floor. When they refurbished the shop they have put very small windows in...yes your right it does look like a hardware shop
