It's pretty standard in many foreign parts.
I bought a couple of bikes from US PX stores while working overseas. They were always set up with the front brake on the left.
The shop folk thought it odd to want to change it and asked if I'd ever worked on a bike before.
I drive RHD and LHD cars with no problem and have ridden many motorcycles with the gear and rear brake pedals on the 'wrong'sides (Morinis and old British stuff).. None of that is ever an issue....
But... I just CANNOT ride a bicycle with the levers the other (wrong) way round.
I do worry about Americans. They are still not comfortable spelling some of our simpler words and they only have one Math at school.
The reversed brake levers are one more sorry indictment against a nation who went for that whole hip & cool 'Independence' thing rather too early.
Ooops... I seem to have digressed and become Times columnist from more than a century ago.... Or J Clarkson from some time last week.
