G to retire after the tour of britain, you cant keep doing it for ever
There doesn’t seem to be any info on what he will do now. Be nice to still see him involved in some way.
Huge talent - quite brilliant. And nearly 40 at the top of his game... are there any footballers of that age? Don't get me started one that one![]()

Alluded to in Geraint Thomas Cycling Club: ANNOUNCEMENT: G's got some big news for you allGeraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers) has confirmed that taking a management role in his current squad is an option for when he retires in 2025, with the aim of helping the team to regain the dominating position in the sport it held in the past.

I can't be the only person to be surprised he's chosen to climb off his bike... instead of simply falling off it in vaguely farcical circumstances.I hear he's bringing out his own brand of stabilisers.
Also, because it's my favourite way to remember the Thomas/ Rowe double act, and I'd like to keep it somewhere, here's what I wrote about one of the stages Rowe's of Lanterne Rouge win back in 2017...
The grizzled road captain stared at the road ahead. He'd fought in all the major battles in the toughest regions of the world. Flanders. The Ardennes. Cardiff city centre on a Friday night.
He'd seen too many good men fall by the roadside in his career. Men like Geraint Thomas, who they'd lost in the Italian campaign. Men like Geraint Thomas, who they'd lost in France. Men like Geraint Thomas, who was last seen falling into a ditch in Gent. It was funny, Rowe thought, but when he looked back now his memory somehow made all those faces look the same. Perhaps it was just the effects of the roasting Alpine sun.
And now another battle was looming. His opponent, McLay, had been retreating brilliantly, using the terrain to his advantage, always finding a way to escape the traps that Rowe had laid for him. Now, thought Rowe, he had him. Pinned between two mountains there was no escape. Rowe gathered his troops and explained their tactics for the struggle ahead.
"Lads, I'm f------ knackered. Just don't s--- me out the back in the first kilometre, okay?"
A few, but not many. Jamie Vardy is 38, as are a few others. A fair number of goalkeepers have carried on playing beyond 40, though none currently in the Premier league.
But the physical requirements for an outfield footballer are very different to the requirements for top level long distance cycle racing. You won't get many 40 year old's being competitive in elite level criterium races. And it was considered remarkable that Cabv was still winning sprints at 38.
