I am a member of another forum (for bird watchers) and that has a section that allows you to click on country/county/area e.g. U.K/North West/Cheshire. That enables you to see what is happening locally and to ask area specific questions.
If CC did something similar we could post on subjects helpful to those that live in the area i.e. cycle routes/new bike shops/bike sales/future rides etc..
I know that information is available but it is so general so as to be (in most cases) of little use.

This is not a criticism.....CC is a great site.

The key area where this would come in handy is the Rides forum. The new software offers the ability to add prefixes to threads so there is a means of defining and sorting by location - I just haven't really had time to sit down and develop the required taxonomy (there's a lot still to do and I only get a few hours per week for development).

Like most things at the moment ... it's coming ...

I think it would also be useful for people like myself who are just getting into cycling-both on & off road and would like to know of good routes in the area.
I think you should should spend less time on unimportant things like sleeping/eating/working/family etc. and get your priorities right^_^

There's plenty of room for expansion ... I've got a to-do list as long as both of your arms; it is a good suggestion though and will be considered.
