Although I signed up with geocaching.com I have never been!

The idea was to do it with the kids to get us out of the house & doing something intrersting!

Geocaching was my obsession between my Moto Guzzi and Bicycling. There are quite few locally that are designed around cycling. I really do some more, the kids never took to it and whilst I look to see if theres any near on days out, don't seem to squeeze them in, or quite often ends up as a DNF.

I have 1 cache left and several TBs out there.

Lois & I have been geocaching for about 18 months now ..... it is a great way to go out exploring on your bicycles.

We do it the hard way as neither of us has a GPS yet: with a Suunto sighting compass, an OS map, a pencil, a rule and a pair of binos or a monocular. Ironically we have 7 or 8 geocaches in Lionwood directly behind our house, but we've not found any of them yet. According to the team leader from the BTCV all of the Lionwood geocaches are intact and in place, as the BTCV have been very careful not to disturb them (too much) during the recent conservation work there.

I have been thinking about using several geocache locations (not the caches themselves) as way points for the November Norwich AlleyCat.

Are there any other sites other than geocaching.com that you use for locating caches??

I've owned three caches and visited a couple of hundred from Ben Nevis to Sydney Harbour.

I have thought about building a cycle specific multi cache, starting from a car park and involving quiet lanes, if possible only left turns, and just 3-4 miles to keep it family friendly. Perhaps on one of my less lazy days.

Similar thing here. I joined up thinking it'd provide a great excuse to go for a ride. Never happened! I do plenty of riding, I just have never gotten around to discovering caches.

here.........
I signed up back in June - kids love it! I've got a few local ones that have either been added in after we've already been around the area to do others, or we couldn't find first time of asking to look for.

I LOVE the idea of a bike one with only left turns for the kids

Our 3rd cache was a 5 rated difficulty one (being newbies we didn't really "get" the ratings..........)

Have about 50 now, need to get out and get some more before winter hits.

We used to love doing it when the kids were younger, but now they're teenagers

Most most weekends were out looking for them and we've around 350 finds. I had one cache that was disguised as a bird box, the perch was a pencil, sadly it got vandalised though. Still have a few out in the field, but never seem to have time for it now

We always try to add a few caches to our family days out, adds some great interest for the kids.

I'm a geocacher in theory although I haven't done any caches in ages now as I have no functional GPS kit and am not in a hurry to get any.

But yes, it is a fun way to get about and now I'm bike-enabled I might think of starting again. Although I no longer own it I originated The Bell and the Stars cache in rural Berkshire, which is still going strong after (counts on fingers) six years. It should be bikeable and a good day out in the country for those down that way.

Yep!

I have around 80 finds, a TB roaming free (currently in America), and I also have Cache disguised as a (wooden) log hidden off a nice bridle way, which is cycle-able on an MTB/Hybrid!
