Hi going to be getting a new bike and really like the look of the Genesis day one disc as well as the Genesis Flyer but leaning more towards the Day One Disc as thinking will be more versatile on road/ off road etc. Been looking on the net for reviews/ articles of the 2015 model but can't seem to find any. If you own one, what is the ride like ? would you recommend ? The flyer in Cherry Bomb colour with Carbon forks looks fantastic, but dont think it will suit mixed terain. Or would it? Thanks

Hi,
Imho, I would go for the day one disc, but I think you know that too ,
For £650, it's a lot of bike for a little amount of money,
I say , go for it. Just make sure you get the right size!
All the best.

I've got the Day One with the Alfine hub. It's a lovely ride but I haven't ridden mine off road yet mainly because the increased fear of getting a puncture and the faff of changing it with the Alfine hub, but I'm sure it's perfectly capable of bridleways and the more gentle side of things. The flyer might be alright but from what I can see it's the lack of tyre clearance that may cause problems.

I've got the Day One Alfine too, it's a really nice bit of kit, std set up is as a crosser, I changed the tyres on mine to 32 Conti Top Contacts though so haven't done any off-roading other than farm track stuff. Don't worry about the quality of the product, it's fine, if you want to do lots of off-road I’d probably look elsewhere though.

Thanks for your replies,The Day one disc would probably be best for me and you're right " I know that too". Where I mentioned off road well its more farm track, bridleways etc. What was drawing me to the flyer as well is that it can be rode as a fixed or freewheel and I think can accommodate a rack, but like you mentioned the lack of clearance.

I have three fixed wheel bikes, 65",68" and a 73" and there would do a bit of greenlaning , but because of pedal strike, these bikes only staying on the road,
I also have a Croix De fer , which I use for summer greenlaning, the wheel clearance is ok, but not that great in the winter.
I see the only option is,
Buy a new day one disc, and wait for a flyer to come up eBay.
