Despite having 3 road bikes I'm thinking of servicing the urge for n+1 and looking for something that I can take off road with the kids with whom I work. I tried taking my commuter through the lanes and bridleways last week and now need to get the rear wheel trued.
I've been looking at the Genesis Day 01 cross, I love my fixed/singlespeed and didn't want a mountain bike as I'll have to ride whatever bike I buy to the children before we venture out. I was hovering over a website selling off 2011 stock at a discount, as I went to buy said reduced bike it became out of stock. How very frustrating.
So now I'm throwing it open to the floor, has anyone seen a 54 cm Genesis Day 01 for sale anywhere with a decent reduction? My LBS can get the 2012 model in for £649 which is at least £150 more than I was really looking to spend. Clearly I'm just being a cheapskate I want to choose the bike and I want to name my price but I was always taught not to spend more money than you have to on something. I would consider another singlecross type bike, the il pompinio looks good, for example however the knobbly tyre'd version is outside of my realistic budget. Suggestions welcomed.
