ooooooh yes... the one i have been waiting for.

I've been watching for this bike to come to a shop near me. I saw it came on the genesis site a few days ago and i've been enquiring around a few of the local shops to see if they can get one in.

I walked into my local evans today only to be confronted with this bike at the front. So eye catching that i just had to order one in my size for a test ride

I saw this a couple of weeks ago, when I was trying to decide which version of the On-One Pompetamine to go for - I decided against going for the Day 01 as the only place that had it was realcycles.com. I much prefer the orange of the Day 01 to the white Pompetamine I've ordered! The place I work is opposite Whitgift School on Brighton Road, so I'll keep an eye out for you on your test bike ;)

I've also got a Pompetamine due and prefer the look of the Genesis range. It's only really the logos that put me off the Pomp.
The Day one seem undergeared though, the 42*20 give 29.9 to 91.6. This is probably pretty good for a real cross bike but as a commuter I'd prefer a higher top end. Although many single speeds aren't this high so perhaps it would be fine.
You'd also have to change the tyres to get mudguards on for winter, probably not an issue for most.
They only make them in frame size 52 and above so I can't fit over one comfortably

It does look lovely though.

I have to see one of these in the flesh. I really like the spec (although like Marc I might want a larger front ring) but I'm just not sure about that orange.

And no, Genesis won't be doing it in any other colours. I already asked

Gearing is as good as it gets I rec, a 42 x 20t set-up isn't far off a 50/34 x 12/27 at the low end with only a cog missing off the top. Unless you're an all out speed freak I think you'll get on fine with this. Nice bike! :becool:

They had one in the aberdeen branch of Edinbrugh bike coop on Thursday. I really like the orange colour, but then I'm thinking it would just be a base to put some tiger stripes on it. See my sig for why

What a dilema. had just decided on a Pompetamine when the Day 1 appears. I think it will have to be the former because of size but the Day 1 is prettier.

I observed one of these outside the local Evans. Very interesting, and a more sensible colour bar tape. It looks more like a do-it-all bike rather than a straight cyclo-cross bike. It seems to have two eyelets for rack and mudguards (unless they're for something else).

I believe you can also order Cotic Road Rats with a similar spec.

I'm in a bit of a dilemma to be honest. This, the Cotic Roadrat and the Pompetamine all fit the bill for what I want, but I've also convinced myself that 11 speed variants will be available fairly soon, so I don't want to jump yet.

I've already jumped. I think the 8 speed is pretty good if the cogs are right. If you hang on for the 11 speed it won't be drop bar for a while (if that matters to you) and it'll be a couple of hundred quid more expensive.

I've just had a look at one of these in Evans. Great idea, shame about the weight.

Do you know how much? i haven't seen any figures for it and only had a look and not a feal in the flesh so far.
