i was in lidl seeing if they had any bike stuff left and seen these

and thought ,,hmmmm,,i wonder ,,if they would fit under bar tape (as i was gona get the fizik stuff but its 24£ or something and these were 1.79!!!)
so i bought them ,,upon returning home ,,i hatched a cunning plan ,,lol

i unwrapped the bar tape ,,cut the gel pads in half and fixed it on the bars

heres a pic of it in place fixed with a bit of electrical tape (not strictly needed as they are self adhesive but owing to the curve on the bars a bit of tape cant go wrong )

and the finished product ,,looks pretty normal (albeit a bit thicker on bits )feels crackin and obv a bit more padded

Good thinking.

Cheapest way I have found do get this sort of effect is to just save a bit of the old bar tape you are removing stick it along the length of the tops and drops then wrap the new tape over it.

Did something similar to cushion the hoods. I cut open an old gel seat cover and cut up a couple of pieces of the gel. Rolled up hoods, inserted gel, rolled back hoods. Works a treat
