Gears again

My front set has 3 cogs - rear has 8

at the rear, if gear one is the one I need when im desperate to get up a hill - the following is happening...

on the way down through the gears (towards one) - it always wants to skip gear 2

on the way up through the gears it always wants to skip gear 5

this has started happening in the last 20 miles

Any ideas, i'm trying micro adjustments with the 2 small screws on the rear deralier?

your rear mech needs adjusting, probably not the two screws tho - but they probably need tweaking now - its cable tension that needs tweaking, many articles on youtube such as

the two screws on the rear mech adjust how far it will swing - set so that the mech wont throw the chain off the cogs ie beyond 1st or 8th - there's also a b-screw which does something else - though unless its a new mech it'll probably not need aadjusting as it should have been set up correctly when it was purchased - your problem is due to cable tension though.........
