Mrs B has a classic eighties Peugeot tourer in carbolite 105 which we'd like to restore so she can once again accompany me on my Galaxy.
The original Simplex (or Sachs Huret?) downtube changers are damaged and no longer function. Ideally I'd search e-bay and bike jumbles until I found 'original' replacements but in practice these would also have fragile plastic friction nuts and compaitibility problems with modern cables.
However, it seems recent 'friction' levers such as these http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b0s108p1318 from Spa cycles are incompatible as they require a more recent brazing. Those on the Peugeot are cylindrical whereas later versions incorporate a square lug to provide a 'key' for indexing.
Can anybody suggest a link to a supplier for a 'legacy' Sachs/Simplex compatible lever?
