Hi, could someone please tell me if this is suitable for use on Shimano 105 dual levers? I've not been able to find anything specific to 105 although there is a lot of (expensive) Dura Ace stuff around.

Thanks

Should be fine, but you will need some decent cutters to cut the cable outers to fit.

How about THIS?

Genuine shimano and cheap as chips. I bought one and fitted the rear yesterday as it happens and it has all the right bits you should need including the correct sis outer casing. It contains 2 full length cables by the way.

Cheers for this but it does seem to deliberately leave out road bike. Did you fit them to a 105 setup?

Clas Ohlsen do a Shimano gear cable set for £5.49: link here

Works great on my hybrid. Haven't tried them on a road bike, but can't think of a reason why they wouldn't work.

Martin - I'm not sure, and others will confirm, but I think the end of the end of the cable may be different between road and MTB gear types. I'm pretty sure that's the case for brakes (that's why the 'universal' brake cables have a fitting on each end - you just cut off the one that's not for your set up), so could well be the same for gear cables.

BTW - I have a reasonably decent cable cutters for the outer cable if you need to borrow them.

Gear cables are the same for mountain/road: it's brakes that are different. Halfords are selling Clarks Premium Cables for £8.99. Seem to be in stock in most stores. They include coated inners, lined outers, metal ferrures and cable ends. Just need cutters and an awl to poke the outers.

Thanks everyone for the advice!!! I can buy safely now and boy do my gear cables need replacing!

Cheers for the offer Ross. I've got some electrical cable cuters somewhere, I'll try those first though. You may hear from me.......

Another tip Martin is to thread the cables before you cut to length. That way you don't run the risk of them fraying as you thread them through the outers.
